Sustainable tourism
The Gîtes La Vicomterie had the Green Key eco-label from 2022 to 2025. We did not reapply for the label for 2026 because the audit fees and membership fees are too high for small accommodation providers. Our environmental measures remain unchanged.
Present on five continents, the Green Key eco-label is the first international label for sustainable tourism for tourist accommodation and restaurants.
Sustainable tourism is defined by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) as ‘tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts by responding to the needs of visitors, the tourism industry, the environment and host communities’.
We are particularly active in these areas: :
- Saving electricity, producing solar power and purchasing electricity from renewable energy sources,
- Saving gas by using solar thermal energy and insulation,
- reducing waste,
- less polluting mobility (charging station, cycle paths – prepared for you),
- nature garden.
